Karol G blesses his fans with new music. The Colombian singer-songwriter released “Cairo” on Sunday (November 13), an infectious song produced by her longtime collaborator Ovy On the Drums.
Written by the team behind “Provenza” — Karol, Ovy and Keityn — “Cairo” is a very catchy track that thrives on a fusion of dance and Afrobeat rhythms, as Karol sings about allowing herself to love again, even after having sworn I would not do it.
“Cairo” follows Karol G’s “Gatubela”, released in August. With that song, in collaboration with Maldy, the artist achieved her 16th Top 10 hit on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs, debuting at No. 4 on the chart dated September 10.
Billboard recently reported that Karol G’s $Trip Love tour had grossed $69.9 million and sold 410,000 tickets across 33 shows in North America (through the end of October), according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. With that amount, the Colombian star achieves the highest grossing tour of a Latin artist in the United States.
The “Provence” singer surpasses with $Trip Love the gross of 50 million dollars of Jennifer Lopez’s It’s My Party world tour in 2019. For her part, Shakira raised 28.2 million dollars in 2018 with her world tour El Golden. This year, Rosalía’s Motomami world tour has grossed $28.1 million through the end of October.
Karol G is currently working on her next album, which will follow her Grammy-nominated 2021 set, KG0516. The 31-year-old artist will also headline the 16th annual Calibash, which takes place January 21-22 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. She will also participate in the festival Ozuna, Myke Towers and Farruko, among other stars.
