Coolio, a popular rapper from the 1990s, passed away today, Wednesday, September 28, in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. The rapper was 59 years old.
According to the news site Jarez, the rapper’s manager found him unconscious in the bathroom of a friend they were visiting.
Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., began his career on the Los Angeles rap scene in the late 1980s. He achieved national success in 1995 with the release of his song “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which formed part of the soundtrack of the film starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Dangerous Minds.
