Ana Victoria, daughter of singers Amanda Miguel and Diego Verdaguer, is making a place for herself in the music industry on her own merits, as confirmed by her recent Latin Grammy nomination.

The singer, nominated in the Best New Artist category, is currently promoting her third album, “AV,” a fusion of rock and electronic music.
In an interview with Efe, Ana Victoria said that with this disc, which went on sale in April, she’s had the chance make her individual style known to a wider audience.

“The album has a strange kind of sound, which on Mexican pop radio might sound odd,” the artist said during her trip to Miami.
Because of “that sound,” she said, “it’s been hard to make a breakthrough,” because it doesn’t fit into any particular category.

“AV” has 11 numbers, some she composed herself and others the work of her father, such as “Yo No Lloro por Llorar” (I Don’t Cry for the Sake of Crying), the first single and one that remained for weeks in the Top POP 10 on Mexican radio.

Ana Victoria, who at 13 was already singing backup for her parents and had composed her first songs, said that the album was published under the Diam Music label, founded seven years ago by her parents.

“It’s one of the things that excites me, because this is our future. It started when I said to my dad: ‘why wait for a multinational company to launch our discs,'” she recalled.
“The Latin Grammy nomination proves that things aren’t going so badly,” the artist said.
