Carla Morrison, Olga Tañon, America Sierra and Kany Garcia Set for ‘Latin’s Leading Ladies’ Panel at 2013 Billboard Latin Music Conference


2012 Latin Grammy revelation Carla Morrison, tropical superstar Olga Tañon, Regional Mexican composer and 3Ball MTY vocalist America Sierra, and Puerto Rican pop singer/songwriter Kany Garcia will represent the current strength of Latin music’s female voice when they come together for the Latin’s Leading Ladies panel at the 2013 Billboard Latin Music Conference & Awards Presented by State Farm® in Association with Pepsi. The gathering of bold women artists, part of a wave of Latinas who are changing he sound and look of women in music, will be held on Wednesday, April 24, at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami, where the conference will take place from April 22 to 25. Billboard’s Associate Editor for Latin Music Justino Aguila will moderate the panel.

Singer/songwriter America Sierra has been praised as one of the most talented Regional Mexican artists today. Her young, but successful career has been on the rise thanks to hits like “Mienteme,” “Solo Tu,” “El Ultimo Boton” and her collaboration with 3BallMTY and El Bebeto on the No. 1 Billboard Latin Airplay smash “Intentalo.” She has been honored with three Billboard Mexican Music Awards and is competing for four Billboard Latin Music Awards, including Song of the Year and Regional Mexican Song of the Year; with “Intentalo.”

Indie singer Carla Morrison has become one of the rising stars in Latin music. Her debut album, Dejenme Llorar, released on March 2012, won her two Latin Grammys and a Grammy nomination. Multi-platinum artist Olga Tañon is one of the most acclaimed female acts in Latin music. Throughout her career, spanning more than 30 years, Olga successfully reinvented her style from Merengue and Tropical sounds to becoming a Latin Pop super star. Since the launch of her solo career, Tañon has been a regular staple on the Billboard Latin music charts; holding the record for the most appearances on the Tropical Airplay chart among all female artists, with 41, including her most recent single “Mala.” She has been the recipient of five Grammy awards, two Latin Grammys and five Billboard Latin Music Awards, including the Spirit of Hope in 1999.

In just six years of professional career and three studio albums, Kany Garcia’s music has been recognized with two Billboard Latin Music Awards and two Latin Grammys. Recently, she produced and wrote the entire album of Puerto Rican singer Christian Daniel and collaborated with artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa and Franco de Vita. Her latest album, Kany Garcia, was released in July 2012 and debuted atop Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart.
