Carlos Santana will be returning to his home state of Jalisco, Mexico to present a Latin music extravaganza on Dec. 14 in Guadalajara.

The event is slated to kick off his support for the upcoming album “CORAZON.”

Santana will not be alone at this special event. Also expected to appear are; Chocquibtown, Gloria Estefan, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Juanes, Miguel, Niña Pastori, Samuel Rosa of Skank, Salvador Santana, Soledadand Diego Torres. According to his official Web site, there will be additional guest performers which will be announced at a later time.

This concert, which will take place in Vicente Fernandez Arena, is a homecoming for Carlos and a kickoff event to promote his forthcoming album project “CORAZON.”

“CORAZON, the concert and album project brings Carlos back to his birthplace, in the city of Autlan, just south of Guadalajara and celebrates Carlos’ love of his musical heritage, as well as showcases Carlos’ own personal influence on Latin music and on today’s generation of Latin superstars,” reads the announcement on Santana’s official Web site. “Many genres of Latin music are represented in these collaborations including pop, rock, salsa, hip-hop, folk, reggae, traditional and bachata.”

Santana’s career has spanned decades and he is one of only a few musicians still touring who gained prominence in the original Woodstock concert. His official discography spans from 1969 to 2012.

It’s a busy time for the seasoned guitarist. On Dec. 8, Santana will also receive the 2013 Kennedy Center Honors. It will be the 36th annual such celebration held in honor of those making great contributions to the arts. Santana will be joined at the event by opera singer Martina Arroyo; pianist, keyboardist, bandleader and composer Herbie Hancock; pianist, singer and songwriter Billy Joel; and actress Shirley MacLaine.

In February 2014 he will head to the Middle East to perform in the Dubai Jazz Fest.
