CBS Lays Off Radio.com Editorial Staff

According to a post from editor Jeremy Larson, the “majority” of Radio.com’s editorial staff — including at least one former Billboard contributor — was laid off Tuesday afternoon (July 14). A Billboard source has also confirmed the news. The move, Larson writes, is due to a shift away from original writing toward “aggregated content.”

The site is owned by CBS, under its CBS Local Media division (a diagram of that company can be found here), itself a division of CBS Radio, the country’s third-largest terrestrial broadcaster. “We worked with what we had and I couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished,” Larson writes.

A request for comment to CBS wasn’t immediately returned.

The news follows reports of CBS Radio laying off about 200 staffers on Monday, according to a report from Radio Ink.
