Reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee, born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodriguez, is now trying his hand at the alcohol industry with El Cartel Tequila.
The tequila is described as being an ultra premium,” luxury spirit of choice with true Tequila enthusiasts.”
El Cartel is made with 100 percent Weber Blue agave from Jalisco, Mexico, which is matured for at least nine years.
Two kinds of El Cartel are currently available: Silver and Blanco. A third is said to be “coming soon” and will be called Ultra Anejo.
According to the website:
El Cartel Tequila is known for the suspended, patented, edible gold flakes. We have acquired the exclusive licensing rights to El Cartel’s unique suspension matrix. This ultra premium tequila with our luxurious gold flakes allows us to secure immediate shelf presence and marketing allure.
The Puerto Rican-born artist is currently promoting the Tequila brand via Twitter and scheduled meet-and-greets.
Daddy Yankee is also promoting his 6th studio album, Prestige, which was released on September 11. So far, three of the album’s tracks have down well on the Billboard Latin Charts.
In 2004, Daddy Yankee became a worldwide sensation with his song “Gasolina” off the album Barrio Fino.
