As a Major League Baseball player, David Ortiz has a 10/10 rating. But listening to him sing bachata, perhaps, there is room for doubt, some applaud him, others criticize him. It is that for tastes there are flavors and colors.
“I’m falling in love, it was love at first sip“, that’s how the chorus sounds in a short bachata that at the beginning of the week that is already ending, the so-called Big Papi shared on Instagram. It is a commercial for a drink that, in 2015, he recorded with Robert James Gronkowski, a former American professional football player.
“When I heard that my son Gronk was retiring, I had to bring this from 2015. They should have us singing this at the Super Bowl halftime show this year,” joked the Dominican slugger to congratulate the American athlete for “an incredible career.”
The followers of David Ortiz, among whom are recognized bachateros, urban, merengueros, comedians and DJs among others, reacted immediately to see the player in that facet.
“My son, with some techniques, you can be an excellent bachata player, as a Bachata Dad, I am going to guide you. Don’t be discouraged, you’re close, you just have to yearn a little. Jejejejejjejeje”, wrote the bachatero Luis Segura.
The comedians Cheddy García and Kenny Grullón and the DJs Charlie Valens and Dj Lobo enjoyed the bachatica, reacting with applause and phrases like “Afinaiiiiiiiiisino mí y ya”; “Bachatéme papa”.
Instead, Heidy Cruz, the fitness model with laughter emojis wrote: “Well little man, tqm and everything, but not there eeeeee Guayyy“. This reaction was answered and many clarified that it was a commercial, while others indicated that they expected to find sincere comments like that.
With only three days on Instagram, the film has reached 93,516 “likes”, exceeded 611 thousand reproductions and more than 5,600 comments.
