DJ Diverse Exclusive Q&A

Where did your career begin?
Well, my career began in breakdancing, as a b-boy. I really enjoyed that for awhile, until one day my mother took me to a dance show at Hostos Community College in the Bronx. There was a dj on stage and at one point during the show, I automatically fell in love with what he was doing, with his technique. I knew then and there, that this is what I wanted to do.

As a DJ that has met many different artist which is your favorite out of all?
Wow i’ve met so many, usually when you meet an artist, its hard to find time to actually sit and have a conversation with them. Especially, with all the madness going on around them. I definitely enjoyed meeting Hector Acosta, “El Torito”. That was like wow to me. I have to admit, I was a bit star-struck. I’ve also had the pleasure to meet, one of my all time favorite dj’s: Roger Sanchez. That was definitely, a career-changing moment for me.

If you never became a DJ what would you be doing?
I definitely would’ve steered towards a career in computers, I could sit on one for hours and be fully engaged, but exactly in what way I would’ve involved myself and computers, I’m not sure.

Which artist do you keep in touch with on a personal basis?
I don’t share any personal communication with any artist, but there are a few artists, that I have personally spent time with, like Eddy & Henry.

What do you do on your time off?
LOL, thats funny that you ask. I work on music, organize, search for new sounds and music production. If i’m not dj’ing, thats usually what I’m doing. You can say, that is a never-ending job, nonetheless I enjoy it. Other than that, I would simply spend time with friends.

What’s the best thing about being Dominican?
Man, I LOVE being Dominican. We make some of the best food you will ever have! We hold a never-ending liveliness to us, we are a very upbeat culture.

What advice do you have for DJs that want to be as successful as you?

What type of music do you listen to when your diving in your car?
Of course, House music, Salsa & I always leave room for the throw back hip hop: 2pac, Biggie, Wu Tang , Dmx…etc

How did you come up with your DJ name?
I was trying to come up with a name, that would be able to express me in many different ways. Something that I can cater to many people. I did some researching in the dictionary, to find the exact word that would project just that. After, finally deciding on a name, I brought it to my friends and picked their brains.
