Dominican trio Ilegales make the largest leap this week on Tropical Airplay, bounding 14-5 with “Pasarla Bien,” featuring El Potro Alvarez. A 32 percent gain in plays (in the week ending Dec. 28, according to Nielsen Music) spurs the chart surge, aided by WAMG-AM, Boston who recorded 55 spins during the week. The merengue/electronic fusion track (dubbed Merenhouse) has steadily risen at the format since its Oct. 18 arrival.
The rise gives Ilegales their eighth top 10 on the chart (where they’ve held two No. 1s), and marks 19 years since their first charting track “La Morena” reached No. 8.
Calibre 50 Climbs: Regional Mexican group Calibre 50 jump 6-1 on Regional Mexican Digital Songs as “Que Tiene de Malo,” featuring El Komander, increases 84 percent (to over 1,000 downloads). It’s the third time the group has crowned the chart, and first since “El Tierno Se Fue” spent five weeks atop the list in 2011.
The sales growth helps the track reach new peak on Hot Latin Songs, where it hops 13-10 in its 10th week. Streaming also aided in the rise, as the song reached 425,000 domestic streams, an 11 percent gain. YouTube/Vevo notched a combined 306,000 weekly views, while Spotify plays stretched to 100,000.
Also on Hot Latin Songs, “Javier El De Los Llanos” steps 15-13, following a No. 11 peak on Dec. 20, 2014-dated chart.
