Telemundo announced Tuesday that reggaeton superstar Don Omar is leading in the group of finalists for the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
The Puerto Rican native is named 16 times in 14 categories. He is also named twice in two of them. Miami native Pitbull follows close behind while rising star Prince Royce and seasoned veteran Romeo Santos, formerly of Aventura, also lead on the list.
Shakira was nominated in 10 categories and global rock stars Mana were named in 11. Wisin y Yandel, Jennifer Lopez, Juanes, and Daddy Yankee among others were also named finalists.
Katy Perry and Rihanna were both nominated for crossover artist of the year.
Telemundo is set to air the program live April 26 from the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables. Juanes and Daddy Yankee are among some of the names confirmed to perform that night.
