Gilberto Santa Rosa, known as El Caballero de la Salsa, returns to Mexico to perform at the Pabellón M Auditorium in Monterrey and at the National Auditorium in Mexico City. The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter appointed Mexico as the new stop on his Caminalo Tour, and on March 31 and April 1 and 3, his followers will be able to enjoy his music in Monterrey, Mexico City and Guadalajara, respectively. “We go to Mexico happy, enthusiastic.”
“After so many years in the career, having a new project, a new tour… is always good news. I went to Mexico for the first time in 1989, to Mexico City, and I never thought that from that year on I would go at least once a year to different forums, to different cities and places in the Mexican Republic; I am very happy with it. Returning to Mexico is always very pleasant for me”, explained Gilberto Santa Rosa in an interview for MILENIO.
This tour is the continuation of the one that began in October of last year and that plans to end in November 2022. Gilberto arrives in Mexico after the release of “Countdown“, a song he recorded with Yuri for his album Celebrando una leyenda, in which the singer performs 19 songs by other authors.
“The Yuri thing was a great honor for me, being required to be part of the cast that accompanies her in her more than 40-year career. It was double the honor to be there, to sing with her and to sing one of the songs that I have composed. She is a beautiful person and on top of that, we had the musical accompaniment of La Sonora Santanera, she was positive everywhere,” he detailed.
Wide panorama In this way, Gilberto Santa Rosa arrives in Mexico. Talking with him about how the year 2022 is presented for him, in labor terms, the singer and composer highlighted the wide panorama that is presented to him and his music; he also reflected on the evolution of salsa itself and the role of new performers and composers in the face of the recent musical paradigms of the genre in the face of the industry.
There are many projects. We are recording new music, preparing the next project. 2022 is going to be a very busy year, which keeps us pumped, excited and committed to the race”, he mentioned.
“All life evolves, this genre has evolved too. Salsa music, our genre, has been a surviving genre. The one about us has expanded quite a bit, contrary to other genres that are about to disappear. We continue to have a lot of impact, but we don’t have the visibility, nor the projection that it could have, as in the 70s, 80s, 90s. However, we have a huge number of spectacular new artists who are the ones who will have this change and have their own challenges. In the end, it is still a stable genre and has been evolving as a musical proposal. There is always room to improve”, concluded the Puerto Rican singer.
Great success The song “Conteo Regresivo”, together with Yuri and La Sonora Santanera, already exceeds 300 million views on YouTube.
