J Balvin and Ed Sheeran have teamed up to combine their talent and musical ability in an unprecedented musical collaboration that spawned the release of two songs “Sigue” and “Forever My Love.

The project was born from a friendship between both international stars when Ed Sheeran heard J Balvin speaking one morning in the gym and recognized his voice. They struck up a conversation and from there a genuine friendship arose and almost immediately the musical collaboration was born, according to the press release released by the artists’ team.

Sigue” is an upbeat reggaeton dance track and “Forever My Love” is a love-inspired ballad.

The musical collaboration showcases J Balvin and Ed Sheeran’s ability to cross genres and their ability to diversify the type of music they write and present. Both have proven that when it comes to the language of music, there are no barriers. They combine pop and reggaeton in search of uniting the world of music.

“Everything good takes time. Six months ago I was in the gym and I said this man looks like Ed Sheeran. Well, that’s how it was, he was. We have a coffee, we talk about life and we stay with a chimba vibe and creating a genuine friendship talking from the simplest to how to be a father. Hehehe… In New York, we arranged to see each other one day in the studio and well, you’ll see later. Hehehe… But the first two songs we put together ‘Sigue‘ and ‘Forever My Love‘ are already out. I wanted him to be in a theme in the world of reggaeton and he invited me to his world. It was brutal to hear it in Spanish and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Much love and peace on earth,” J Balvin said in written statements.

“I met J at a gym in New York last year, it was just me and him very early in the morning. I recognized his voice when he was on the phone, so I went over and said hello. We chatted so much that we ended up having lunch and then afternoon tea. Then we just became partners who chatted non-stop. I was in New York over Christmas for gigs and we decided to share a day in the studio which led to so much more. The first two songs we wrote were “Sigue” and “Forever My Love” and I absolutely loved them. He wanted to take me into his world and I wanted to take him into mine. It was a real challenge to learn Spanish for this and I had a lot of fun doing it. I hope you like it as much as I do and stay tuned for everything to come,” Ed Sheeran said in the statement.

These songs are the first released by the Colombian artist, after the “tiraera” that the Puerto Rican René Pérez dedicated to him in “Music Sessions number 49″, which Residente worked with the music producer Bizarrap. The theme was released in early March.

The two award-winning artists, who collectively top the charts, reach a total of 281 million followers around the world.
