Univision’s “¡Mira Quién Baila!” (Look Who’s Dancing!) celebrity dance competition is down to its sixth episode and the competition is getting fierce as it was demonstrated last night.

The Cuban-American actor and singer Jencarlos Canela opened the evening with his most recent release single “I Love It” with the MQB dancers joining him just before the dance competition started. “¡Mira Quién Baila!” near its semi-finals has only six competitors remaining after Maria Elisa Camargo was eliminated to 37% of fan votes vs. Manny Manuel’s 63% of fan votes. But before the evenings elimination was announced, all seven had to demonstrate their dance abilities and progress – Malillany Marin urban dance, Mane de la Parra slow dance, Maria Elisa Camargo a tango, Manny Manuel disco, Johnny Lozada pasodoble, Marjorie de Sousa cha cha and Pedro Moreno a samba.

Manny Manuel who was in danger of elimination was awarded the State Farm Award of $5,000 for the past week demonstrating much improvement and will-power to move on doing his best. The State Farm Award is awarded each episode to the competitor that has most progressed and willing to continue doing his or her best during rehearsals and on the dance floor.

After the first round of dances, Marjorie de Sousa, Malillany Marin and Pedro Moreno had one more chance to prove to the judges with another dance to be saved from elimination next weekend. Pedro Moreno was fortunate to be saved by the judges leaving the two females in danger of elimination. It is up to the fans to choose the best dancer.

Watch “¡Mira Quién Baila!” next Sunday at 8 p.m. for the results and for some more Latin celebrity dancing or subscribe to Latin Music Examiner for the recap and photos.
