“…there was never a doubt in my mind that you can have an amazing career and an amazing family and an amazing relationship all at the same time.”—Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Sandoval is a voiceover artist, emcee and on-air radio personality for Univision Radio New York X96.3 and Lo Maximo Productions (LMP) and budding plus size model. The former event blogger for MTV Tr3s production coordinator for Tr3s and MTV Networks Latin America’s show Lo Te Que Pica started her career in entertainment as an intern for Power 95.3 in Orlando and for Latin Billboard Music Conference & Awards in 2008. Over the past few years Sandoval has developed her passion into multifaceted skills both behind the scenes and in front of audiences. She is Jaylah, the confident Latina, on-air radio personality and event planner.
Sandoval grew up in Boca Raton in a close-knit family. Being of both Costa Rican and Salvadorian heritage she was a minority in the heavily Jewish community but found a place within her church and home. Growing up, Jaylah was always the creator of family outings, designing parties, and events focused around music. Music became a place of solace for the young Diiva and provided an atmosphere where she could be herself.
Jaylah never shied away from taking the lead in situations at a young age. Her independent and take charge attitude would later lead to her nickname, J. Sand La Diiva, which later on would be shortened to Jaylah. She loved music and as a child her only connection to it was through radio. It would turn out that a chance meeting with Miami’s Power 96 on air personality DJ Laz would inspire her to pursue a career in radio.
“I realized then that I could work in a field that I loved and still be able to inspire and motivate others,” said Sandoval.
Sandoval started broadcasting school in 2007. A year later she began interning at Cox Radio Orlando, working along side industry heavy weights like DJ Prostyle. Her career would take her back to Miami as promotions assistant for Cox Radio Miami, an intern producer for “Those Two Girls in the Morning” on 97 The Coast, and as an event coordinator with LMP and The Design Group. Jaylah coordinated and hosted at major events like Calle Ocho, 100 Black Men of America, INC gala, and the Latin Billboard Music Conference. She would go on to step into the limelight as an interviewer working with celebrities like Max and Lenny from the group Aventura, Notch, and Fuego. Her career as an online radio personality would also take flight.
Inspired by legendary radio personality Angie Martinez and the multi-talented Jennifer Lopez, Sandoval is working towards building her brand as Jaylah to audiences all over the world. In 2011 she was featured as a Real Woman in Latina Magazine. From that experience she has been given the opportunity to expand her brand by modeling. Jaylah wants to represent plus-women as a confident female with both her inner and outer beauty. As a plus sized Latina, Jaylah looks to break the barriers of the entertainment industry with integrity and hard work while inspiring a new generation of women to pursue their dreams without compromise.
