Karl Towns makes history by being chosen No. 1 pick in the NBA

Minnesota Timberwolves just drafted Karl-Anthony Towns Cruz the first Dominican player to be chosen in this years NBA draft.

The draft took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The player 7’0 tall is now the eleventh Dominican to be selected to play in the American league and the first since Al Horford was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2007. Hugo Cabrera was the first in 1976.

Towns Cruz, whose mother is Dominican, belongs to the national basketball team and comes to play one season with the Wild Cats of the University of Kentucky in the NCAA basketball. He averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in 21.1 minutes per game under control of Calipari.

Karl Towns will receive five million for his 4 year contract with the last two seasons being team option to keep Karl Towns.
