The Latin Mixx Conference and Awards is the premier DJ conference with its exclusivity in catering to the Latin entertainment market. It helps bring together Latin DJ’s, artists, entrepreneurs, businessmen, etc. It has been operating for years since 2006 and has reached its pinnacle as of late as Latin big names from around the country gather to celebrate the Latin culture in a very “Grammy”-like environment. Here’s a quick recap of what went down in last year’s big event.
The opening night, held at 809 Lounge, NYC was hosted by Hennessy, Heineken and BMI featured the classic Latin Mixx programming which we all look forward to every year, The Latin Mixx Turntablist and Artist Showcases. DJs Yonny, Fat Fingaz, DP1 & Finesse blessed the turntables with their skills, while artists Yunel Cruz, Sito Rocks, Max Agende, Eddie Y Henry & Sol Y Luna performed their newest music.
Wednesday’s events where held at The Times Center, NYC located in the heart of Times Square, sponsored by Heineken, Hennessy, PepsiCo, BMI, Akoo, 1-800-Cantaso, Billboard Pro and Music Choice. Educational panels featured programming centered around Digital Marketing, Social Marketing and Management. Panelists included Johnny Marines of Aventura, Edgar Andino of Wisin Y Yandel, Carloyn “CC” Concepcion of Heineken and Lonnie Limon of Wave, The Marketing Arm. Hennessy then featured a special panel with The Hennessy Collective DJs: DJ Laz, DJ Eddie One, DJ Geraldo, Laura Stylez and DJ Omarcillo which was hosted by Manny Gonzalez of Moet Hennessy USA, afterwards Max Agande got to show off his DJing skills after a brief tutorial from DJ Laz. Finally, The Latin Mixx fashion show which featured beautiful models sporting the latest ready to wear lines from: Akoo, Sean John, Apple Bottoms and Cavi.
A major highlight of the day was The Latin Mixx Icon Award reception for DJ Little Louie Vega hosted by Hennessy Black at Cielo, NYC. Louie’s fans, peers and family all joined together to recognize him as a true pioneer for the Latino community. Louie was truly in awe and the ambience set the stage with positive vibes and inspiration for following days’ Latin Mixx Awards.
The climax of the entire 3 days has got to be The Latin Mixx Awards Show, an evening event held at The Stage at The Times Center, NYC. This event gives everyone attending the chance to celebrate. DJs, Artists, Executives, Models and Designers all dressed in their best, walked the Heineken “Green Carpet” in style.
