Are you ready for the Cinco de Mayo rumble at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada? It will be an all out war when undefeated Floyd Mayweather takes on Miguel Cotto tonight in Sin City. Many questions surrounding this fight ironically have nothing to do directly with it. Mayweather comes in as a heavy favorite but will he be distracted by his personal issues? The Las Vegas native is set to begin an 87 day jail sentence starting on June 1st for assault.
Another question Mayweather continues to get (and will continue to get) is when will he finally be getting in the ring with Manny Pacquiao? That is a match boxing fans have been wanting for a long time now. Not only would a Mayweather – Pacquiao fight be a great one for both fighters and the fans, but it would be great for the sport of boxing, which has taken a back seat in popularity to UFC.
Okay enough of the ‘what ifs,’ let’s get down to the facts of this fight.
Floyd Mayweather (42-0) and Miguel Cotto (37-2) will battle it out at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas tonight in what is the biggest boxing match of 2012 by far. Mayweather knows that Cotto will be ready for the challenge, but Mayweather’s confidence level is sky high as you can tell by his comments in an ESPN interview.
“As I’ve said before, in order to be the best, you have to beat the best, and that is what Miguel Cotto has to do on May 5. He has to beat me.”
Hey, nothing like confidence!
Las Vegas sports books have Mayweather as a big favorite to remain undefeated, and he probably will, but at -700 it’s not a good bet.
Mayweather is -700, while the comeback on Cotto is +450 . You have to bet $7.00 on Mayweather to win $1.00, while every dollar you bet on Cotto wins $4.50.
Pick – Mayweather stays undefeated, but it’s not easy. Cotto should put up a good fight, but in the end, Mayweather moves to 43-0.
