Melina León began her artistic career when she was just 15 years old and began professionally as a member of the musical groups “Las Cherís” and “Ruby”. She successfully performed on different stages of prominent hotels in Puerto Rico, which gave her the strength and foundation to launch as a soloist with Tropix Music.
Her first record production was titled “Liberated Women” and the song became an overwhelming success.
The popularity of the song led it to be part of the Banco Popular special “Romance del Cumbanchero” in homage to composer Rafael Hernández.
Melina has proven herself with great successes of other interpreters in her role as a composer, as well as her role as an actress in different plays, among them: “The true story of Pedro Navaja”, which was presented at the Center of Fine Arts of Santurce and at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
After 25 years, “Liberated Women” continues to be one of the most talked about topics and has helped young women who are in toxic relationships to free themselves from them and empower themselves.
Over the years, Melina has rapidly followed her artistic career with other productions for the Sony label entitled “Con los pies en la tierra” (1999), “Baño de luna” (2000), “Corazón de mujer” (2002) , “Romantic and sensual” (2003), “Melina León” (2004), among others.
