The singer debuts the song with a live performance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘.
After a series of teasers, Normani finally released her latest single titled “Fair,” following her song “Wild Side” with Cardi B.
Produced by HARV, the song highlights the singer’s soft voice. “Is it fair for you to move on, because I swear I haven’t?” she sings in the chorus, recalling one of her most vulnerable moments.
The singer spoke of the song: “Sharing this record makes me uncomfortable because I’ve never really been seen in this light.”
She added: “I’m really forcing myself to let it go. This is huge for me and I hope this piece of art resonates. Love is beautiful but at the same time so terrifying. I adore them to the moon and back.”
The artist also told Apple Music that “Fair” holds a special place in her heart. “It captured me in the moment that I was experiencing. In real time. I was going through it emotionally that, that day, I wasn’t sure if I could actually get up to go to the studio. But it’s over, and this was a result.”
She added: “And it’s therapy for me. As much as it is for everyone else, it is for me. It’s really crazy to put this record out, I didn’t know it was going to be a part of me too. I am very proud of how it was written and the way we did it… You could say this was written by all women, right?”
Along with the release, Normani performed the song live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which you can watch below. “Fair” is now available on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
