Today Times Magazine released its 100 Most Influential List for 2019. The list recognizes some of the most influential individuals in 5 different categories: pioneers, artist, leaders, icons, and titans. This year one of many Latinos to make the list was Reggaeton and Urban artist Ozuna. This pick could have not gone to a better person in my personal opinion, Ozuna has created an amazing fan base and has been able to expand his music and talents both in his music projects and film. Times also included a snip-it from Daddy Yankee speaking on his interactions and work with Ozuna.
I still clearly remember the chamaquito who came to my recording studio to ask me to be on a remix to his song “No Quiere Enamorarse.” His name was Ozuna, and what got my attention was his tenacity, his sublime and unique voice, and his drive. He was fearless to ask a superstar to be part of his record. He gave me this vibe—I saw a reflection of myself in my beginnings. I could see he had the power to become a star.Daddy Yankee
Ozuna also cares about the work he produces and in an interview he explained how he does not want to make music speaking badly about women or violence such as other artist from the same genre. This is due to Ozuna having a daughter and him wanting her to be able to listen and connect to his music. This is a great recognition for Ozuna and a great way to help expand Reggaeton. Let us know what you think about Ozuna making Times list and who else should have made the list from a music perspective.
