“I have tried to hide the situation in front of my children. I try to do it and protect them, because that is my number one mission in life. But then they hear things at school and from their friends or they come across unpleasant news online, and it just affects them.” She mentions that her relationship with Pique, which once felt “sacred”, has become “vulgarized and cheapened” by the scandalous headlines surrounding the split and that she is still dealing with it.

“Regardless of how things turned out or how Gerard and I felt as exes, he is the father of my children,” the singer explained cautiously. “We have a job to do for these two amazing kids, and I have faith that we will find out what is best for their future and what is the fair solution for everyone involved.” She also used the moment to ask and thank the public for giving them the space to work things out in private.
