Xtreme - Biography

As Urban Bachata’s most successful duo, XTREME have established themselves as a musical force within the Latin Music Industry. Since 2007, they have had 5 top ten hits including the 1 song “Shorty Shorty,” sold over 300,000 albums, received over 35 million hits on the Internet, while continuing to tour extensively across the United States and Europe. In 2009, their mun2 reality show “Xtreme: On the Verge” was among the top-rated new shows for the bilingual network owned by Telemundo/NBC Universal. Their latest release “Chapter Dos: On the Verge” features songs inspired and showcased on the television show including “Baby, Baby” and “Vuelve.” XTREME’s Chapter Dos debuted at 1 on the Billboard and ITUNES Latino Charts and delivers on the promise of their earlier hits and expands the duo’s sound further into the realm of pop/bachata fusion. Produced by XTREME and executive-produced by Ben DeJesus, Chapter Dos has already stirred up buzz in the Latin music industry with a Latin Billboard nomination for Tropical Album of the Year. The story begins in the Bronx. At the age of 17, Danny D began showcasing his lyrical and musical talent as the founding member of XTREME. In 2003, Steve Styles joined Danny D after countless auditions and practices. Both raised by immigrant Dominican parents, Danny D, was born and raised in the Bronx, while Steve Styles landed in the Bronx after being born in uptown Manhattan. Always living both urban and Latin culture, they felt motivated to mesh the romantic beats that American Latinos were listening to with the traditional love songs of their parents’ madre patria. Fusing their passion for the "tipico" bachata sounds of the Dominican Republic with the R&B and urban sounds they grew up listening to on the streets of New York City, the multi-platinum duo XTREME thrives between two cultures, exploring mainstream U.S. pop while staying true to their Dominican roots. Their previous album Haciendo Historia, sold over 200,000 copies and catapulted the group to a new level of success with three hit songs (“Shorty Shorty,” “Adonde Se Fue,” & “No Me Digas Que No” featuring Adrienne of the Cheetah Girls). Building on their first hit, “Te Extraño,” Historia found Danny D and Steve Styles diving in to all stages of production. “No Me Digas Que No” would go on to receive a 2009 Latin Billboard nod for Hot Latin Song/Vocal Collaboration and a 2009 Premio Lo Nuestro nod for Best Group. Along with recording albums and shooting numerous music videos, XTREME has also appeared on several of the biggest TV programs in Latin America and US, including multiple appearances on Sabado Gigante and Despierta America. The group continues to tour extensively and has appeared all across the US and internationally, bringing their music to their loyal and ever-growing fanbase. Says Danny D, “Just like our fan base, we are constantly evolving and incorporating new sounds and hot concepts into our music. We write for our fans everywhere.” That drive and their natural talent have made XTREME a household name in Latin music and will help them continue on the path to success. Says Steve Styles, “We want to help pave the way for the evolution of Bachata as we know it.”
