Camila Cabello has debuted as a coach in the new season of The Voice, the American version of The Voice. In the blind auditions, the singer has spoken of Rosalía when evaluating Yelka, who has interpreted No me más de Selena. None of the coaches has turned around during her audition and Camila, with great affection, has explained to the young woman the reason why she has not chosen her to be part of her team.
First, Camila has asked Yelka where her family is from. “My dad is from Mexico and my mom from Peru,” Yelka replied. “I love that you have represented your culture,” Cabello began by evaluating, “the reason why I haven’t turned around is because I’m looking for someone to give it a little twist. For example, Rosalía sings traditional music, sings flamenco in El Mal Querer. But she mixes this flamenco with hip hop, with rhythmic bases… That’s why she stood out and became Rosalía“.
This is not the first time that Camila Cabello shows her admiration for Rosalía. In an interview for the Capital Breakfast program last March, the artist revealed her devotion to artists such as One Direction and Taylor Swift. In addition, she confessed who is the artist with whom she would love to collaborate: “The next person I would like to work with is Rosalía.”
The relationship between Camila Cabello and Rosalía is not something new either, since the two artists have coincided in 2019. That moment soon went viral (with hundreds of memes included) when both began to comment on Taylor Swift’s performance during the 2019 MTV VMAs Awards gala.
