Chayanne will receive a special recognition @ the Billboard Latin Music Awards


Telemundo and Billboard announced this Thursday that the Puerto Rican Chayanne will be honored with the Billboard Award, the icon granted by the “Billboard Latin Music Awards.”

The renowned artist will also sing during the prestigious award ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, September 29 and will be broadcast live on Telemundo, starting at 7pm, from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

The finalists for the 2022 “Billboard Latin Music Awards” will be announced on Thursday, August 18.

The Billboard Icon Award is given to an artist whose career has not only remained relevant over time, but has also become the most distinguished artist of his genre: the role model and the pinnacle of both commercial success and musical. Chayanne is an icon of the romantic ballad and pop genre in Spanish throughout the world.

During his extraordinary career of more than four decades, Chayanne, whose name is Elmer Figueroa Arce, has become one of the most beloved and respected artists in the world of entertainment. He is the phenomenon of the Latin artist who triumphs globally, always surrounded by millions of followers.

Chayanne has built on that success with more than 50 million albums sold and 25 No. 1 songs on the Billboard charts, including nine No. 1s on the Hot Latin Songs chart. In that same list he also managed to position 29 songs in the Top 10. This last milestone made him the third most successful male Latin pop artist in the history of the list. The great artist has also stood out with sold-out tours and hundreds of awards from the music industry.

Recently, he released “Te amo y punto”, which reached No. 11 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart, the highest position since “Qué me has haces”, along with Wisin, reached No. 7 on the chart. 2017. The song marks his first release in more than four years, since “Di qué Sentis tú” and “Choka choka”, with Ozuna, in 2018. Chayanne has also starred on the small screen, and in the movies, including guest starring roles in movies, soap operas, and television series. Chayanne has also focused his career on charitable causes and has been a spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 2014, the artist has been one of the American Red Cross Ambassadors and received the prestigious Crystal Cross Award for his participation in the 100 Days of Summer campaign to encourage the Latino community to sign up as a donor.
