This week an unpublished ranking was released by Rolling Stone. The renowned music magazine chose the 100 most important reggaeton songs of all time and their selection left no one indifferent.
A list that is made just the year in which one of the greatest exponents of the genre retires: Daddy Yankee. and as expected, this hundred songs is dominated by Puerto Rican singers. In the number one position is “Gasolina”, a single from the successful album “Barrio Fino”. It is followed by “I want to dance” by Ivy Queen and “Pa’ Que Retozen” by the legend Tego Calderón.
But in recent years, Colombian artists have entered the conversation and J Balvin has become one of the banners of the genre. For this reason, the voice of “I keep missing you” celebrated on his Instagram account being part of this selection of the 100 most important reggaeton songs with eight songs.
“I grew up listening to reggaeton from Puerto Rico and seeing this list of the 100 best reggaeton songs of all time on @rollingstone makes me proud to be Colombian and to have 8 songs out of the 100 (8%),” wrote J Balvin.
The Colombian explained that despite the fact that “this list is what they consider most, it will never be the absolute truth,” he is grateful to “be in this privileged position from Medellin-Colombia.”
J Balvin was highlighted at number 21 with the remix of his song “Mi Gente”, which includes Willy William and Beyoncé. Then he appears in 35th place along with Farruko with the song “6 AM” and “Con Altura” which he sings with Rosalía and El Guincho comes in at number 53. Four places further down is “La Canción” along with Bad Bunny.
