Ricky Martin to Release First Studio Album in Four Years

Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin is once again proving why he’s one of the most popular Latin cross-over acts of all time.

His international popularity and longevity continues to thrive as fans gear up for his first studio album in four years, “A Quien Quiera Escuchar” (“To Whoever Wants to Listen”), which will be released on Feb. 10, 2015.

Millions do want to listen and are anxiously waiting to hear Martin’s upcoming 10th studio album, and are all ears when it comes to the Latin powerhouse who has wowed the music industry with his talent, killer dance moves, kind heart and philanthropy through the Ricky Martin Foundation.

“We’re going to have a very interesting year full of music, partying and romantic times,” Martin reportedly said in Spanish in video that he shared with his fans via social media.

On Oct. 2014, Martin released “A Quien Quiera Escuchar’s” first single, “Adios” (“Goodbye”), which has a 1930s burlesque vibe accompanied by a vibrant Latin beat.

“There is something about that era and the style that I love,” Martin told Entertainment Tonight.

“Disparo Al Corazon” is the second single from the upcoming album, which was produced by Julio Reyes (Jennifer Lopez, Alejandro Sanz) and written by Martin along with Pedro Capo, Yoel Henriquez and Rafael Esparza Ruiz.

According to Billboard, on Jan. 23, 2015, Martin arrived on Hot Latin Songs with “Disparo Al Corazon.”

“The ballad bows at No. 35, aided by 3.2 million audience impressions gained during its first week at radio, according to Nielsen Music (week ending Jan. 18),” Billboard reported. “WKAQ, San Juan, in the singer’s native Puerto Rico, championed the song with 58 spins during the tracking week. Entering at No. 19 on Latin Pop Airplay, Martin extends his lead for most top 20s on the chart to 40 (followed by Enrique Iglesias with 36).

“It’s the 42nd hit to earn its notch on Hot Latin Songs for Martin, and follows the set’s lead single, ‘Adios,’ which dips 38-37 in its 17th week. Furthermore, ‘Disparo’ opens at No. 7 on Latin Pop Digital Songs (1,000 downloads), trailing ‘Adios’ at No. 4 (2,000).”

“A Quien Quiera Escuchar,” (“To Whoever Wants to Listen”) will be Martin’s first album since his 2011’s “Musica + Alma + Sexo” (“Music + Soul + Sex”), which featured a medley of songs both in Spanish and English. It also featured collaborations with an array of artists including Joss Stone, Natalia Jiménez, Claudia Leitte and Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel and hard rock drummer Josh Freese.

In February 2014, Martin teamed up with fellow Puerto Rican superstars Jennifer Lopez and Wisin for Wisin’s Latin dance track “Adrenalina,” on the “El Regreso del Sobreviviente” album.

In the steamy music video, the 45-year-old “American Idol” judge and the 43-year-old “The Voice Mexico and Australia” judge turned up the heat with their sexy dance moves and leather outfits.

On Feb.1, Martin, who’s most known for his hits “Livin’ la Vida Loca,” “Maria” and “La Copa de la Vida,” performed “Adios” surrounded by 40 beautiful contestants from the auditions of Univision’s new season of “Nuestra Belleza Latina.”

Martin is also a father to 6-year-old twin sons, Valentino and Matteo, via surrogate in 2008 and came out publicly two years later. Martin will kick off Spring and Summer 2015 with tour dates in New Zealand, Austrailia and Mexico.
