Ozuna may be one of the protagonists of the World Cup this year, while Ricky Martin and Shakira are two of the most remembered for their music.
It is rumored in the world that Shakira would be one of the artists in charge of the World Cup opening show, on November 20, in the preview of the Qatar vs. Ecuador, for Group A of the World Cup, which will be played at Al Bayt Stadium.
It is already confirmed that J Balvin will perform on one of the alternate stages of the event and Camilo will record an allusive song for Telemundo.
Although until now it is just a rumor, the idea that Shakira is part of the opening show of the World Cup is not unreasonable, because she is precisely working on new music and is an expert in this type of event for having participated in the inaugurations of Germany 2006 , with the Haitian Wyclef Jean, South Africa 2010 and at the closing ceremony of Brazil 2014, with the Brazilian Carlinhos Brown.
The one who will probably play in some of the official events of the Qatar World Cup is Ozuna, who has one of the official songs, “Arhbo”, with Gims and RedOne. Another artist of Latin descent who participates in these songs is Cardona, who appears in “Hayya Hayya” with Davido and Aisha.
Another of those most remembered for the success that was his song for a World Cup is , who with “La copa de la vida” reached the highest peak of his international career. As the soundtrack for France 98, it reached number 45 on Billboard’s Hot 100. The Puerto Rican performed it at the World Cup final and at the 1999 Grammys. The album he later released, Ricky Martin (1999), came out at number 1 on Billboard in the United States.
Many other Latinos have participated in the event, but without much remembrance, such as Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Claudia Leitte who sang “We Are One” at the opening of Brazil 2014 and Carlos Santana, who recorded “Dar um Jeito” as the official song for the same edition.
For Russia 2018, Nicky Jam, Era Istrefi and Will Smith sang the official song, “Live It Up”; while Maluma presented “Colors” with Jason Derulo and J Balvin did “Positivo” for Telemundo.
