Fourteen singers and musicians, all of them students or graduates of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, combine their talents on the new video “Si Estuvieras Aquí” (If You Were Here), available today from Sony Music Latin.

Si Estuvieras Aquí” written by Bebo San Juan (Alter ego of Emilio Aragón) and the singer-songwriter Victor Martin, former student of music composition at Berklee College of Music
Combining acoustic arrangements with jazz and tropical nuances, this song captivates with its freshness and its lyrics brimming with nostalgia and longing: “Si estuvieras aqui, no te pediria, ni un minuto de tu tiempo para mi. Encontrarte en un abrazo, cuando busco tu perdón, ni que me eches una mano, si me duele el corazón” (If you were here, I wouldn’t ask you for even a minute of your time. Finding you with an embrace, when I seek your forgiveness, nor that you lend me a hand, if my heart hurts.)
Javier Limón, the 10-time GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY®-winning producer, and director of Berklee’s Mediterranean Music Institute, collaborated on the musical arrangements, which give plenty of space for the gifted musicians to delight us. The 45-second instrumental intro mixes such sounds as the trumpet, the recorder, the violin and the oboe.
The writers and performers of this song made magic, Javier Limón observes “‘Si Estuvieras Aquí’ is one of those songs that any of us would be honored to have written. It’s the type of song that touches your soul. It has a familiar feel, and Emilio Aragón has put his heart on his sleeve for his people. Now, in the voice of these immensely talented young people who are the present and future of the world’s best music, this work belongs to all of our communities. We are family – all of us to listen to it and are moved by it.”
Si Estuvieras Aquí” features singers and musicians who are as international as Berklee’s student body, representing such diverse countries as Argentina, Cuba, Israel, Iraq, Venezuela and more.
In 2019, Javier Limón founded the Casita Limón platform in alliance with Sony Music Latin to give exposure to emerging artists. This project continues bearing fruit, and its most recent accomplishment is this enchanting song.
